When resizing an appointment in Outlook 2013: The reminder for "Appointment" will not appear because the item is in a folder that doesn't support reminders. Is this OK?

Everytime I create an appointment in my Exchange 2010 calendar and try to resize it, I get the following error:

The reminder for "Appointment" will not appear because the item is in a folder that doesn't support reminders. Is this OK?

Of course it's not OK. :)

This is a Exchange 2010 calendar (running in cached mode), not a PST or archive. It is my actual calendar. The mailbox has been converted from Exchange 2003 to 2010 a while ago. I never had these problems in Exchange 2003.

I tried running Outlook /cleanreminders, but that doesn't help.

It also doesn't matter if Outlook is run in cached or non-cached mode.

What should I do?

Hi,

Please make sure the appointment is created and resized in your default Calendar. Then check whether you can change the appointment reminder in OWA.

If it works in OWA but doesnt work in Outlook, please restart Outlook in safe mode to have a try.

Thanks,

Hi,

If the reminder can be changed in OWA, we also need to confirm whether the appointment can be resized in OWA and Outlook Online mode.

If it works in OWA and online mode, please create a new Outlook profile to have a try.

Thanks,

I'm not sure what Outlook Online mode is. If that means that Outlook is not running in Exchanged Cached mode, then unfortunately, it still has the same problem.

The error is also present in the new Outlook profile.

Hi

I have the same issue at the moment.  Did anyone manage to find a solution for this please? This is coming on a director's laptop and I really need to find a solution / valid explanation for him..

If I remember correctly I ended up removing the Outlook profile and recreated it and then the problem went away.

I think the OP already tried that but it didn't work..

The problem is that Exchange ActiveSync does not support reminders...it has to be a POP or IMAP account. If you go to FILE<Settings you'll see the type of email you have.  I switched my calendar over to my iCloud account which is an IMAP/SMTP account and it effected nothing else.  I can use the reminders and have the same calendar.
